The First Christian Church of Ellensburg was founded in 1886 and is one of the oldest churches in Ellensburg. We are a congregation of Christians dedicated to becoming like Jesus full of grace and truth. We worship the one God who created the universe and sent Jesus, his only son, to earth as a human being to show us how God intended for mankind to live and, even more importantly, for him to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sin so we might be reconciled to God through him. We are a non-denominational independent Christian church that shares a heritage with other like-minded churches coming out of the Restoration Movement which dates from the early 19th century. This fellowship of churches seeks Christian unity upon the basis of a restoration of the revealed faith and practice of the Christianity of the New Testament so the world may be won to Christ. We hold up the New Testament alone as the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice and believe that one’s attitude toward Christ and obedience to him in all things according to scripture is the only test of fellowship, union, and communion among Christians.
Our local worship service is a blend of contemporary and traditional practices including singing, preaching, praying, fellowship and weekly observance of the Lord’s supper. We like to think we’re a friendly bunch and we welcome visitors with a hearty handshake and a warm smile.
